The need or desire to stay connected to what’s happening right now, to soak in all the information we can to make informed decisions, and to make sure we stay active in the world can cause us to feel burned out emotionally and mentally. While it can leave us feeling selfish, one of the best things to do is take a break. Be easy on yourself. Yes, there are important issues happening right now, and one of the best things to do in the long run is rest.

Here are our three favorite reasons to do a self-directed meditation retreat at home this fall.
Include what you need.
Unlike in-person retreats, at-home retreats allow you to focus keenly on your needs. This means including your favorite activities, from guided meditations, prepped food, journaling, or walks in nature. You also get to determine the structure of your retreat, how much time you want to spend in meditation, and how long your retreat will be.
Clear your mind.
Another great thing about at-home retreat is that you can decide on your degree of removal from the world. Whether that’s totally separating yourself by shutting off your phone and disconnecting from the internet, to having designated times to connect, it’s all up to you. There’s also the chance to open your mind to create space for your practice and focus on what you want to get out of it.
One of our favorite things about home retreats is the level of comfort from being in our own space. There are no worries about traveling, accommodations or anxiety about having to be in a new space around new people.
